When the life you built may not be the life you want.
That’s not a failure. That’s information.
I’m Amanda Jablon, a therapist based in Southern California. I specialize in working with queer adults who came into themselves later than they planned, and everyone else who is doing the hard work of finally becoming who they actually are.
My clients are not falling apart. They are holding it together so well that no one around them would guess anything was wrong. They go to work. They show up for the people they love. They exercise, make plans, keep moving. And underneath all of that, something is shifting.
Sometimes it’s a relationship that has stopped working. Sometimes it’s a life that fit perfectly until it didn’t. Sometimes it’s a question they’ve been pushing down for years that is finally asking to be answered.
I work particularly with queer adults navigating identity, intimacy, and the specific kind of grief that comes with realizing the life you built was built around someone you were pretending to be. That work is some of the most meaningful I do.
I also work with couples, and with therapists seeking supervision.
HOW I WORK —
Therapy with me works at two levels.
The first is practical.
We look at what's happening right now, what's working, what isn't, and what needs to change. You leave sessions with something real, not just insight but actual movement.
The second goes deeper.
We look at where the patterns come from, how they show up across your relationships and your sense of self, and what it would take to change them at the root rather than the surface.
I draw from somatic and attachment-based approaches, cognitive and behavioral models, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (parts work.) I use whatever actually fits the person in front of me. I will ask the questions you have been avoiding. I will not let you off the hook, and I will not make you feel judged for being human.
WHO THIS IS FOR —
You might be in the right place if…
○
You have done a lot of personal growth work and the same patterns keep showing up anyway.
◠
You are queer, or questioning, or navigating a relationship structure that doesn't follow a conventional script, and you want a therapist who already understands that world.
⟢
You are in the middle of something major: a divorce, a coming out, a relationship that is changing shape, a version of yourself you are finally ready to stop performing.
I work with individuals and couples throughout California via telehealth.
✺
You are ready to do real work, and you can commit to showing up weekly for it.
◒
Individual sessions are $250
Couples sessions are $300
I do not accept insurance and am happy to provide a superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
